Monday 11th December

The relief column made another attack early this morning on the Boers, somewhere this side of the River.   We could hear the big guns & sometimes the reports shook the house windows in town, incessant firing was going on for 5 hours, with what damage cannot say (although we are so near we get no news the above news we only got this week through the Cape Argus a paper coming in by despatch rider).   I went up to the Reservoir Camp where Mrs Kun...ly is stationed.  There is a splendid view of the Kopje where the Boers are firing from, the British have a Balloon which they send up to find the enemies position in the Kopje.   This you could see very plainly with the naked eye.
