Wednesday 29th November
Today a gloom is cast over the town. Everything is quiet & nothing is talked about except the death of Lieut. Col. Scott Turner & his men, he was certainly a splendid fellow & all the troops spoke highly of him. The funerals took place late this afternoon, 21 poor fellows were buried at one time. It was an un...[?] sight seeing the town wagons which were used as ambulance wagons conveying the dead & the numbers of carriages & carts that followed. I have seen a many Military funerals at home but I shall never forget this.
